Healthy Eating – snacks & lunch
Mid Morning Break
We provide fruit daily for Reception to Year 2 and snacks are also available during each morning break. For a charge of 60p, children will be able to purchase a bread roll/fruit and drink from Mrs Compton at our servery! They can, of course, bring a healthy snack from home.
Lunchtime
Children eat together in the hall. Hot meals are provided by Hampshire Caterers. The meals are cooked on the premises and are of a very high standard. There is always a hot meal with a vegetarian alternative and a choice of desserts with, once or twice a week, a hot pudding.

Over 80% of the children eat the School meals. They choose their food and are never forced to eat anything they do not like, although they are encouraged to try anything which is new to them.
The kitchen staff also provide ‘Themed Meals’ which link in with subjects being studied, or a national interest, eg, a Victorian or Third World meal.
The current price is £2.00 per meal.
Alternatively, children may bring a healthy packed lunch. We ask that you send a suitable, well balanced, nutritious meal. Food should be in a small lunch box (named please!) and drinks should be in a leak proof plastic container with a straw or cup. (No fizzy drinks or glass please.)
NO NUTS PLEASE! This includes peanut butter spread in sandwiches and nuts in cakes etc.
Free School Meals
If you qualify for free meals (i.e. you are in receipt of Income Support or Jobseekers’ Allowance) please ask for a form at the school office. Click here to check eligibility.
